While traveling, it was my son's pick for dinner and he wanted Chinese food. Coming from North Jersey was skeptical on getting Chinese food along the gulf coast of Florida but was pleasantly surprised with the outcome. Picked Mr. King based on the high reviews and stopped in for a dine in dinner experience. When we say down we were given a bowl of fried noodles and there was sweet and sour sauce or mustard that was available for dipping. I ordered the General Tso's chicken which came with a soup and I choose the egg drop soup I was asked for a spice level for the chicken with and opted for spicey. My son order chicken lo mein and an egg roll. Meal portion was decent and the price was right based on the quality. The General Tso's chicken which usually comes with broccoli came with of some type of sugar snap pea, slicesld carrot, mushrooms, and baby corn which offered a unique spinoff compared to what I've usually gotten. Opted for the steamed white rice over fried rice. Food was served hot and fresh and was a tasty meal that did not break the bank. The dining room had ample seating and we were able to sit down at a table of our choosing. As stated, I was leary of going out for this type of cuisine but glad we went. It was a great meal. At the end of our dinner, we also had little chocolate cake / moose type of dessert which was tasty.
Service was amazing Restaurant is immaculate Food was delicious Very pleasant experience I highly recommend it Visit Mr King's You won't regret it Fried Dumplings,Wonton Soup,Sauteed Shrimp and Tiramisu
Always delicious and fresh at serving hours!!! We love the orange chicken and the crab Rangoon!!!
Went here on a rainy afternoon last week for lunch...it was pretty busy in there and I was seated and approached by the server right away...I placed my order for the lunch special and ordered the Chicken Chow Mein. The portion was very generous and it arrived hot and so fresh..it came with Fried Rice and Crab Rangoon and also a delicious cup of Won Ton soup. You can choose this soup for a .25 charge instead of the Egg Drop which is not a soup I care for..service was quick and efficient, she did a fantastic job taking care of the whole Restaurant...
My hubby and myself always like to give a restaurant several chances for redemption if we've had a not so stellar experience. It could have been we visited on an "off" day. With that being said we decided another visit to Mr. King was in order. We choose to go at dinner time instead of the lunch meal as before. I'm telling you- I'm glad we did! We were seated at a different booth- this one had no lumpy and uneven cushions. We were closer to the kitchen, now some people may have minded it but I felt it was an opportunity for me to glance inside the kitchen to see the cleanliness and see how they handle the food. I found nothing out of the ordinary with the numerous glances I had while wait staff were going in and out. We ordered 2 appetizers. Chicken wings and Spring rolls. Both came out in a reasonable time frame and were nice and hot. Chicken wings were disjointed, so there were 4 drumettes and 4 wing joints that were fried. Very flavorful and juicy. This worked out well for us. Hubby loves the drumette while I love the wing joint. The Spring rolls weren't as successful. They were hot and the wrapping was nice and crisp- not greasy but the ratio of filling to wrapper was off. The filling seemed to be ground pork, cabbage, carrot, cellophane (clear) noodles and spices. Great flavor- just not enough of it! Our entrees came with a choice of soup : Egg drop or Won Ton soup. Hot and Sour soup had an upcharge of 75 cents. We both opted for the Hot and Sour soup. A nice, small bowl of soup came out piping hot and loaded with the usual vegetables, tofu, egg and thinly sliced pork in a thick brown broth topped with thinly sliced green onion. A decent Hot and Sour soup- only negative in my opinion was it could have been a tad more sour. My husband did point out that the chef probably tuned it down to cater to the palate of their older clientele. My hubby's choice of entree was Shrimp and Scallop Szechuan style served with fried rice. It had 6 shrimp and 2 large scallops in a red sauce with vegetables. His sauce had a hint of sweet and sour. He really enjoyed his meal. I opted for the Shrimp with Szechuan BBQ sauce. 8 large sauteed shrimp came out with a plethora of thinly juilenned vegetables and bean sprouts in a pleasing brown sauce. The vegetables were celery, carrot, onion, bamboo shoots and lots of mung bean sprouts. Very flavorful and healthy. I opted for the steamed white rice. Portions were very good. After our plates were taken away and before our check arrived- we were served 2 little complimentary pieces of cake. It was Tiramisu and very delicious, what a great way to end a meal. Of course - the obligatory fortune cookies came with our check. Our waiter was very personable and extremely knowledgeable. He answered all my questions pleasantly with a good attitude . All the staff were very accommodating to all the diners and the brisk drive in customers. A much better dining experience than our previous lunch time visit and reassures me that the women who told us they LOVED Mr. King were correct! We will definitely be back!
